What a grade is

A grade summarises whether a company passes a published set of checks on its own reported figures — for example whether revenue and free cash flow are growing. It describes the business as reported. It says nothing about whether the share price is attractive and is not a rating of the security.

Scenario projections are arithmetic on assumptions you can see and change. They are not forecasts, and their outcomes are not predictions.

Where the data comes from, and how it can be wrong

• Financial figures are extracted automatically from filings made with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Extraction can misread a filing, and companies restate their accounts.
• Figures for companies reporting in other currencies are converted to US dollars at a recent exchange rate and applied to every period alike.
• Share prices are closing prices from the previous trading day, not live prices. The daily close comes from the IEX exchange’s historical data feed (IEX HIST): the last trade on IEX before the market closed. IEX handles a small share of US trading, so this price can differ slightly from the official closing price published for the whole market — usually by a few hundredths of a percent for large companies, and by more for smaller, less traded ones. Longer price histories also use data from other market data providers.
• Business descriptions are generated with the help of an AI model and may be incomplete or out of date.

We check our figures against independent sources and correct errors when we find them, but we do not guarantee that any figure is accurate, complete or current. Always confirm important figures in the company’s own filings.

Options
